AAbout Me

The review panel of an application of mine to a Norwegian university once concluded that I have a “voracious scholarly appetite”—which I don’t think was meant in an entirely positive way, but I’ll go with it. Broadly speaking, I’m a media and cultural studies scholar researching horror, monstrosity, spatiality, and temporality in film, television, videogames, comics, and literature, as well as questions of inter- and transmediality. My work explores how popular media engage with cultural anxieties—ecological, political, historical—through the symbolic and affective work of genre.

NNews
I don’t update this often enough to warrant a “news” section, I fear, but I’ll keep it...
